May 27, 2024 - Heads up if you are like me and still have a Facebook account you use infrequently: They're rolling out "AI features" for which they want to use all of your photographs, posts, likes and whatever. There's an opt out possibility at the "Right To Object" link. I don't know if this will work for Americans because you have no consumer protections, but I just filled in my EU country, said the processing impacts me because i'm an artist and my posts are my copyright and I'll sue them under EU law if they use them, and told them to go fuck themselves in the space for additional notes. After verifying my email I almost immediately got the response that my objection will be honored:

Now, this is Meta, so they are almost certainly lying about this, but for the future class action lawsuits against the company it's good to have officially opted out.

is there a way aside from having a tension ring to make crochet less hand-hurty (so to speak)? its something i wish to learn but i have chronic hand+wrist pain, so even just making a simple chain (the only thing i learned so far) can leave my hands hurting for over a day

actually, one more question: how long have you been crocheting in general and when did you first start the mons? im curious now owo

Honestly, if making a chain hurts to that degree, I'm not sure how helpful my advice would be. My hand/wrist/arm pain was only ever situational when I crocheted for hours on end, for weeks, with little to no real breaks.

That said, what helps me is doing stretches specifically for knitters/crocheters or for carpal tunnel (there's a lot of overlap), and taking a break every hour or so (physically putting down the crochet and doing another non-arm intensive activity).

Aside from the tension ring, I've also got this ergonomic crochet hook handle (Amazon link) that helps because the round shape means my hand stays in a more "relaxed" position. I crochet with the handle in the palm of my hand (knife grip), so if you crochet another way (like pencil grip), it might not work as well.

I've been crocheting since around 2011-12 I think, so 12 years now. I made a few Pokemon around that time and for a few years, but in a different style than what I do now (some tagged under #older pokes). I started this project officially on May 1 2017 with the goal of crocheting each Pokemon as a small amigurumi. It's been 7 years of on-and-off crocheting towards that goal!

If you are considering leaving the social media of the Meta company, here are some tips.

January 19, 2025 Before you leave ... Make a list of the mutuals whom you'd like to stay in contact with. This can be challenging if you have a lot of mutuals. Try to select no more than 150. Why 150? Read the text in the footnote, about Dunbar's number.

Now write on your list where you can contact these mutuals. Maybe they have a blog and a public e-mail adress. Maybe they use messenger services outside of the Meta company, like Signal, Threema, Skype or the messenger here on Tumblr, or others. Maybe they offer a newsletter to which you can subscribe. Ask them if you don't know. Yes, this is tedious work, but it may be worth while.

Or: Write a post in your Meta social media, explaining where you can be contacted in the future. Ask in your post where you can contact your mutuals, if they want to stay in touch with you. Give them the option to write you a private message about this, instead of a comment which can be read by others. Another idea: If you want to, write a post about Tumblr (or the Fediverse, or Pixelfed or other social media that you can recommend). Explain the advantages of these social media. Maybe link to a guide to them, like this one for the Fediverse: https://fedi.tips/ Maybe some of your mutuals will follow you there.

I hate those memes with moms (or dads) getting exasperated or irritated with their kids and joke about how much they hate them, or underappreciate their kids and undermine their love for their parents. I hate them. If you don't want kids, don't have them. If you're "stuck" with your kid(s) then maybe reconsider your mindset as a parent and look beyond the surface. They're kids. They're not gonna say "I love you" until you make a habit to say it first.

I need more parental whumpers on here so Shepard can attend their yearly gathering (a literal parent's council) and take some workshops.

My man Shep can't keep up with the times and is truly disturbed by all the punishment like physical discipline and isolation (his hypocritical ass), so he comes out of there with a massive ego boost: "Ha! I knew I'm not the monster my boy makes me out to be!"

Next time he brings Ben with him to demonstrate how nice he has it, just for good measure. Let's hope he doesn't get snatched again.

u almost got it right but it is spelled quinceañera. quince = fifteen and añera idk but año is year so. ya. (and lots of hispanic ppl will just use n instead of ñ and let autocorrect do the work if they don’t use the spanish keyboard like me, so to me using n instead of ñ doesn’t really count as a spelling error, even tho they are pronounced differently)
